Would the groomer be responsible for the vet bill?

I took my dog to a groomer and the groomer caused a very deep scar on my dog's leg. I had to go to the vet immediately and the bill is not cheap. Would the groomer be responsible for my vet bill?

If the groomer, through his or her negligence or recklessness caused the injury, the groomer would be liable for the vet's bill, assuming the treatment was necessary to fix the damage. Of course, pets are not eligible to receive compensation for pain and suffering. So any recovery would probably be limited to the vet's bill alone. You should request that the groomer pay the bill. If the groomer will not, you could then file suit. This is probably something that could be handled in small claims court, depending on the size of the bill.
