What can I do if my attorney won't help me get my settlement?

I have asked my lawyer to settle my case 6 months ago. I called my lawyer and all he says is he's going to get me more money. I don't want more money. I want my settlement. Now, yesterday I had another heart attack. I called him and he won't call me. Please what can I do? I am going to die and all this so he can get more money. He doesn't care at all what happens to me.

Your attorney works for you. He or she may feel your case is worth more, but you are the ultimate decision maker as to when the case settles. You have every right to settle the case for the amount currently being offered. If he does not listen to you, I would contact your local attorney ethics board to report him. In Massachusetts, it is the Board of Bar Overseers. They are the watchdog for inappropriate attorney actions. I am confident that the threat of contacting them will get your attorney to do the right thing. Best of luck.
